On Friday 30th July 2021, Chessington Bowling club hosted a charity bowling event in aid of TREES (THE RESIDENTS ENJOYMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT SOCIETY) organised by Chessington Club member Laurie Wells BEM.
This charity provides social activity and entertainment opportunities to local groups and individuals who are either learning and/or physically disabled, suffer with dementia or who are incapacitated in any way, either physically or mentally. The overall
aim been to facilitate fun and enjoyment to such groups and individuals, with the intention of enhancing and improving the overall quality of their lives.
Chessington welcomed representatives from Egham, Hook and Southborough, Sutton, Ewell Village
and Epsom Bowls Clubs.
The afternoons event started with ‘The Spider’. This is where all participants take a position round the green. A Jack is placed in the centre of the green and when given the word everyone bowls their bowl at the same
time and the individual who ends up nearest the Jack is the winner. The winner on this occasion was Gloria Vincent. Members of Chessington then played against their visitors that Chessington won a close match. After the Bowls match all participants sat down
to a very enjoyable salad meal.
The day’s proceedings including a raffle that raised £722.25 and presented to the Charity.
